Hi
I have the problem, that I don't know where I can set that members must
have passwords by default. The problem is, that if no password is set,
other persons can change the user options.

In recent Mailman versions at least, all users always have passwords -

I've been asked to upgrade the mailing portion of the companies e-deals web
site. The current method of sending mail is primitive at best and requires
a lot of maintenance to keep bounces to a minimum. I am impressed with
mailman and its ability to manage most of these functions.
What I need
Hello,
is there a way I can set options for mailman accounts on a specific
server with more than one list globally (similar to what you can do
via the web interface by ticking the 'set globally' box)?
I'd like to do this for options that you can adjust via the set
command - so e.g. 'set ack on'
I hit a bug today:
From our link:
http://www.mydomain.net/thelists/admin/testing/?VARHELP=gateway/news_prefix_subject_too
Error message:
We're sorry, we hit a bug!
Mailman experienced a very low level failure and could not even
generate a useful traceback for you.
I went to post the changes I made to the configuration and got the same
error again:

administrator at this site.
[ reposting as my initial message didn't hit the list, before part 2]

Hello everyone,
I have a mailing list that appears to have eaten a post today, and I'm
a bit concerned because the mailman logs don't include any information
as to why.
First, the exim logs show that the message was sucessfully received
and routed to mailman:

I installed Mailman on top of XMail following the guidelines of
http://www.ubaight.com/xmail/BeginnersGuide.html. I now receive
mails that are sent by the admin but mails sent to the list are not forwarded
to the members. All qrunners are launched and the mail
method has been set to

Thanks for the prompt response, Mark.
The only error I find in the error log is:
Jul 25 22:05:24 2005 (25676) No such list icons:
which I don't understand either
The guidelines on the site mentioned earlier describe a procedure to do the
wrapping:

I've inherritted a mailman install, and we're seeing a LOT of
failure-to-confirm which we believe is, in part, because of
confirmation mail's subject line.
Background:
- Using Mailman version: 2.1.5
- Installed via rpm (I believe) on
- Linux * 2.4.21-27.0.2.EL #1 Wed Jan 12 23:35:46 EST 2005 i686
Greetings!
I am having a problem with receiving any mail by the web server. On the
other hand, outgoing mail is deliver okay. I suspect that it may be due
to a misconfigured postfix.
I have tried all of the steps in the faq without any avail:

This could be meaningless. This can occur for example if someone tries
to go to http://www.example.com/mailman/listinfo/icons or various
other pages for
Mark - thanks very much for your response and advice.
Make the another-list list anonymous. Then the From: address in the
message it sends back to the tracking system will be the address of the list
which can be a registered user in the tracking system. The original
submitter is still available
PS. I have no sendmail.cf file in my installation, since I am
using postfix. I don't know if it matters. If it does, I may have
to install sendmail.

Thanks to everyone that responded privately via email.
The problem was an obscure typo in mm_cfg.py. Missing single quotes,
basically. It's obscure because it wasn't very obvious... and I
looked over everything with a fine-toothed comb, including our proxy and
httpd setup!
It seems to
