Eric,
As I said in a previous post, was able to check settings in Sound
Settings, switch is on there but MM doesn’t cooperate with Sound
settings when sending or receiving. I was able to partially get it fixed
(as a test) in a 3ᴿᴰ party app (Sound Source).
So conjecturing, something is
Eric,
Yes, it seems like this may be difference(s) between M1/M2 and Intel
machines(Benny). I used the app to redirect MM to my MBP Speakers as a
trial and incoming messages now work after a delay, but outgoing
messages do not (no woosh!). Curious.

That is an error unique to Microsoft. Only Microsoft (or *maybe* your
Exchange admin) can fix it.

Hi Angelo,
Might this be because the server admins have configured only a subset of
mail clients to connect - for example Outlook?
I can’t use MailMate with my corporate Outlook365 service because it
throws up a HTTP based authentication/ask the admin for permission box

I found an app that may help identify whether MM is connecting to or
playing back sounds and/or enable it if it isn’t connecting to Mac
properly.

Yeah, seems like it (assuming sounds outside of MM are working correctly
for you). Though it works for me on MacOS 14.1.1 and MM r5998, an an
Intel MBP.

Eric,
My sound settings are set that way (in Settings>Sound>Play User
interface sound effects”) and still no sound for either incoming or
outgoing, in MacOS 14.1.1.
I assume then that is a MM thing? Just for fun, I tried turning the
switch there off and then on again without success.

I don’t REMEMBER seeing MM asking me to enable notifications after I installed

Pierre,
Belay my last remark. I do not hear the sound similar to your
description, haven’t noticed it before but you are correct. I checked
my settings and they are like yours in MM on the version 5998.

I believe you need to enable "Play user interface sound effects" in the
System Settings->Sound preference pane.
I don't like needing to do that, and mentioned so to Benny a long time
ago.
