I have an 8GB machine (2015 13" MBP) which has taken to getting oddly
slow lately, as though overloaded by something. Poking around, I did
notice that a lot of apps have fairly large memory footprints, and a lot
of "compressed" memory. And one of the larger apps is Mailmate, now at
~500MB.
So, I found out how to trigger this. All I have to do is not notice that
markup language "markdown" was selected, and put *asterisks* around a
thing.
So apparently what actually caused some of the strangeness is that
markdown was turned on-by-default in the recent patch, maybe? And that

some very subtle effect on rendering.
Also, there's a "show fonts" button in

Sometimes mailmate gets into a state wherein I have a paragraph, and a
blank line, and more text. And then something happens such that, if I
enter text at the beginning of the line after that, mailmate inserts
another blank line.
And I am not sure what causes this, and I can't produce it on

But the dock icon for Mailmate didn't show a badge, because there was an
