[MlMt] mailmate memory usage and such...

2016-10-26 Thread Seebs
I have an 8GB machine (2015 13" MBP) which has taken to getting oddly slow lately, as though overloaded by something. Poking around, I did notice that a lot of apps have fairly large memory footprints, and a lot of "compressed" memory. And one of the larger apps is Mailmate, now at ~500MB.

So, I found out how to trigger this. All I have to do is not notice that markup language "markdown" was selected, and put *asterisks* around a thing. So apparently what actually caused some of the strangeness is that markdown was turned on-by-default in the recent patch, maybe? And that

[MlMt] New version broke fonts?

2016-09-01 Thread Seebs
So, plain text emails are now displaying in a non-fixed-width font. This is not ideal. But I can't find a way to change it. There's a "theme for plain text emails is:" thing in preferences, which appears to have some very subtle effect on rendering. Also, there's a "show fonts" button in

So I have some rules, which appear to work. And I have other rules, which... don't seem to. And I am not sure what I'm missing. But I vaguely recall there having been an option for turning on logging so I could see more information about rules. As an example, consider the script

[MlMt] Strange newline behavior sometimes near paragraph breaks?

2016-04-25 Thread Seebs
Sometimes mailmate gets into a state wherein I have a paragraph, and a blank line, and more text. And then something happens such that, if I enter text at the beginning of the line after that, mailmate inserts another blank line. And I am not sure what causes this, and I can't produce it on

Okay, so, I used to have a thing where app nap was keeping Mailmate from getting mail, probably. Symptom: No mail shows up until I click on the window, SUDDENLY MAIL. Today, it did something weirder. I got no mail from about 3 AM to around 6:30 PM. But! I sent outgoing mail during that time.
