The latter is not the default. It'll trigger all messages to have an
HTML alternative generated. This is the only way to ensure that the
configured theme is applied to all outgoing messages. Most users
shouldn't do that in my opinion. When possible, a simple plain text
message is what works best for most recipients. (An HTML signature
would also trigger this behavior.)

Thanks, Benny. I've unchecked the box, which I must have checked in
error some time in the distant past.

Ultimately, it would be helpful to be able to revert to defaults
selectively, or at least to have the default values noted in the docs,
so that one can reverse mistaken configurations like this without
throwing out every custom setting one ever made. (This is intended as
more suggestion than complaint.)

In that case, make sure you do this:

Maybe check via “Edit Subscriptions” in the IMAP account editor
that MailMate synchronizes all relevant folders.

But it can create duplicate messages due to how Gmail works. The only
way to avoid this if you also add a tag mapped to the “Important”
Gmail label.

The plain text aspect of MailMate and the HTML generation is certainly
something that sets MailMate apart from other email clients. I'm aware
that there's a steep learning curve here, but as I think I wrote in the
manual, the default settings should work for most users.

But there is a bug here. If the preview is collapsed by dragging the
separator then MailMate fails to remember it and it'll popup again. If
you use the toolbar icon to do it instead then it shouldn't happen. I've
noted the bug.

It’s whenever the preview pane is up. I’ve tried changing
different styles and whatnot, but to no avail.

It's not related to that.

Just so you can see what it looks like, here’s a screen capture with
a new message :

https://ttys0.net/images/GPG_Preview_Pane_Flicker.mov

That is actually helpful. It shows that MailMate appears to update the
view twice every time - losing the OpenPGP banner temporarily.

Do you also see flickering if signing/encryption is disabled?

/Applications/Mail.app/Contents/Resources/Base.lproj
/Applications/Mail.app/Contents/Resources/ar.lproj

/Applications/Mail.app/Contents/Resources/es.lproj --> Spanish
/Applications/Mail.app/Contents/Resources/es_MX.lproj
/Applications/Mail.app/Contents/Resources/fi.lproj
/Applications/Mail.app/Contents/Resources/fr.lproj  -> French

where the German/English/Spanish/French highlights are my additions

This may deter some potential users, but I understand the amount of
work required to adapt the program, amount that will be more usefully
used by Benny to improve Mailmate.

With INBOX it’s possible to mark a message « fact » and a

The message is archived, but also marked as a todo item of some sort?

If you go to the Gmail web interfaces can you then locate the email in
a specific mailbox?

But I do not know which folder to the message will.

The message is not downloaded MailMate. It’s a problem !

Maybe check via “Edit Subscriptions” in the IMAP account editor
that MailMate synchronizes all relevant folders.
