In my case it appears to be an issue with S-L King 8.15. My MG byte reader
returns empty, fdo2fdo returns a _bad_ geometry error and the FDO Toolkit
returns a _null_ value. All seem to point to FDO.

I have been throwing my 55MB MrSid rasters and my 175K+ sdo_geometries layers
at this guy and it has yet had not one hiccup.(save one(1) 114MB MrSid that
totally trashs my IIS application pool for some reason?)

By doing one-thing-at-once I have found MrSid seems to work fine, at least
in the short term. Poked and prodded no crashes.

It certainly looks to me that you are on the right track here.
It is an established fact that the .NET(managed) connection object in
10.2.0.3 does not behave properly. (See Oracles OTN forum on .NET) The issue

Gee ... Simon, this is not a trivial process. ...remove all of the EPGS
tags. 5-6 MDSYS tables. I spent the day yesterday trying to do this. I
managed to remove some ... I am obviously not the first guy
