How can I get around workspace opening problems:
a) "Variable or Field ID not defined"
b) "invalid view layer"
I need this workspace to open now.
Thanks in advance.

Greetings, List.
Can anyone inform me please whether AutoCad Map can interface
with MapInfo via the normal DXF files? Are there any restrictions or
limitations involved? How about DWG files (I have yet to see the UT
work with on these)?
TIA to all responders.
Best regards,
Alex Eshed
Well, serves me right I suppose - should have looked a little harder!
Thanks anyway

Hello
I have copied ASP Hello World tutorial (Mapxsite
program) from one directory into an other directory (which exists in the same
'level' as the original one) and the map dissappears from the Map Page. In the
original file the map exists in the Map Page.
What is wrong? The program

path of your MapImage directory - its quite possible that the asp pages were
using either a virtual path or your config has been altered.
Check the path settings using MapXtreme Server Administrator, also check the

John,
The Global Gazetteer includes around 125,000 settlements in Europe and
25,000 in Asia with actual population figures (out of a total of 930K, and
600K respectively).
Selections can be made on population size or administrative function

doesn't the Digital Chart of the World hold population figures?
If it does then download country sized chunks from www.gisdatadepot.com for
free and enjoy.

Does anyone have a copy of an .mbx to do multiple conversions to .tab

I've got about 1000 to convert and I can't even begin to imagine how long
this would take with UT...

RE: Extracting bounded coordinates from MapInfo.
We have bounded layers and the coordinates are in Lats and Longs to 8 and 7
decimal places.
To extract the coordinates using commands in the MapBasic windows or under MBX
control to 8 and 7 decimal places you must,

I am not too familiar with DCW, but I believe that it only holds broad
size indicators, and it is somewhat old now.
The Global Gazetteer uses actual recent population figures

Hello John,
No place size indicators at all in DCW and VMap0 (unless you count the fact
that larger places are spelt in capitals). The other problem with DCW data
is that there are no accented characters which is quite a problem for
Europe.
We have a European gazetteer in our Map Elements
