Robert,

You may try to contact K M DEVARAJAN [EMAIL PROTECTED]
He gave an example of the code you mentioned.

Subject: MI: An OCX to convert VB dialogs to Mapbasic

Recently I was told of a OCX or something similar that converted a VB form
to a Mapbasic dialog. I have looked on the download site for this, but
can't find a reference. Does anyone know where this exists?

Robert.

Re: MI MapX and Oracle...PLEASE HELP

1999-11-16 Thread Gatot Purnomo

Hi Sam,

The thing is actually we have no knowledge at all about Oracle
Tools.
This issue was launched during our last approach to win an
application development service. Our client wanted us to consider the usage of
Oracle Tools as many as possible as their company's compliance, i.e.
Designer/Developer 2000 and or Oracle Power Object as Front End Development
Tools and indeed the server engine - Oracle 7.3.4(existing system) or its latest
version version 8.0.0.X even 8i if necessary.

It wasn't bothered me when I was thinking of using MS Visual
Studio 6 with MapX 3.5, since we have tried and got the feel of it. We even look
forward to using MapX 4.0 as soon as it's been released. And planning to connect
it with any Oracle server engine - obviously using ODBC.
Buts since we were asked to consider the use Oracle's as many
as possible, I believe we have to answer this technical compliance policy with
reliable technical statements, especially from (all of) you who has had
experiences connecting Oracle with MapInfo/MapX.

Thank's a lot for your attention.

Gatot,

I hear you and will help if you can (re)mention the
specific problems, however I have to say that I don't use the Oracle Dev
tools. The last time I checked them out, they had OLE compliance
issues which prevented them from winning my heart. I would think that by now
they would be able to take advantage of any OCX like MapX; is this not the
case? What is the error or trouble?
As far as connecting MapInfo/MapX to Oracle 7.x or 8.x,
you may use ODBC, or in the latest version of MapX (v4.0), ADO. As I
recall, the Oracle tools at least provide for ODBC, although they like to
use OLE (which is nice).

I'd like to hear more about the specific
problem.

HELLO MI-LISTERS,

Please help me getting some answers for this
issue...since I have no other resource for this.

I want to have any technical experience story on map
based application using Oracle Designer/Developer 2000 and MapX. Are
there any possibilities to develop a map based application based on an
existing application that had been developed under those Oracle
Tools?
How about Oracle 7.0 and 8.0 with
MapX/MapInfo - does MapInfo have already support it instead of Oracle
8i?

We have a client that asked us to develop a map based
application with mapinfo using their compliance IS standards, i.e.
oracle environment.

As always... TIA

new millenium or not.
May the use of MapInfo and GIS continue to grow and create more
applications!
