Remote sensing details aside, sounds like you are running into the dreaded
MI raster resampling feature. MI can't print 24 bit color at 24 bit to
postscript printers. It resamples the raster to 8 bit to print. That isn't
the problem. The problem is that it uses the Windows color pallet for
No.

I had the same problem, I think. I use Distiller to translate print files
into PDFs. There is a setting in Distiller that resamples bitmaps to 72
dpi. By turning off that option I solved my problem.

Anyone have a tool that will clear custom labels from a single layer, rather
than from all of the layers.
Thanks,

I tried printing a small area from a large MrSid file from MI 5.5. After
about a half an hour of processing I gave it the old three fingered salute
so that I could go home.
Anyone else experience unreasonable printing times using MrSid files. BTW I
am on a Pentium 266 with 64 MB RAM.

Bill,
The only way I have ever been able to consistently get custom symbols to
work with MI version whatever is to adhere to a strict format.
1. The symbol must be a perfect square.
2. The symbol cannot be larger that 350 x 350 pixels.
3. The symbol must be 8 bit.
4. The

Rejoice, Rejoice, let the news ring out from this day forth that at long last MapInfo will support printing 24 bit images to postscript printers

I like Jacques suggestion about creating an mbx that modifies the MI menus, but there is an easier way. Just edit the MAPINFOW.MNU file with a text editor. Those with only the most rudimentary understanding of MapBasic will not have a problem rearranging the commands. 80%

Title: RE: high res image generator
Convert the image to 8 bit or get a copy of MI 6.0. ECW files will print at 24 bit out of MI 5.5 but you would have to convert your imagery to ECW format (www.ermapper.com).

We found that using the Save Window As function in MI 6.0 was shrinking or removing our custom symbols from the resulting file when we changed the Image Size from the default.
