Hello to you,
I was answering the request of Sebastian Hudson about polygons
attribute when I found out something I can't explain to myself. What is the
difference between querying the MinX of an object and querying the MinX of
the MBR's object. To me, it was the same thing, but I obtain
Hello community,
any ideas why MI is crashing while trying to update table's objects
from another table?
To update value in the table, this command work OK:
Add Column "Table1" (my_column) From Table2 Set To your_column Where COL16 =
COL16
Using this command as a template, I switch the
Hi Johnathan!
I have an answer to your query.
First, make a copy of your table of points. It will become your circle
table. Open it.
In the MapBasic Window:
Set Distance Units "mi"
Update set obj = CreateCircle(CentroidX(obj),
CentroidY(obj), 100)

Hi Fran,
sometimes, I've seen this very same message when attempting to print
to AdobePDF. I find out that the name of the layout window was not compliant
with file name syntax. What I mean is that a layout window named "Layout:2"
will cause an error because of the ":". Since the ":" is n
To display parallel lines, I created line styles in MapInfo Line Editor. I
just put 1,2,3...,10 pixels off the center line and I can display multiple
dataset on the same line/pline. But, I'm limited to 128 line styles within a
*.PEN file, so I have to sacrifice existing line Style or swap *.PEN fi
Hi!
I noticed some strange behavior from MI when I display decimal value
in labels. My regional settings are set to display a comma as decimal
separator. So, in the browser, in MI, a distance value looks like 0,5. If I
label objects with decimal numeric value, the label will show as 0,5 o
When I use format$(distance,"#0.00")+" km" *notice the dot in 0.00*, I get
0,50 km, with a comma. Nothing to help me understand...

Hi!
I need some explanation. I "Drag and Drop" a mapper into an Excel
sheet. Everything works fine except that I have polygons with incomplet
filling. The problem occurs with large mapper window. When width exceed 10
inches, filling is missing. It's frustrating to bring the mapper into E
Another annoyance with Query>Find Selection is that all the mappers will be

Hi L-ster,
On occasion, when saving a workspace with a few queries, MI behave
strangely. Most of my queries are saved right, but sometimes, I end up with
a mutant. Here's an example of a query found in one of my workspace:
Select þF_P_T from where into noselect order by

Hi Mick,
If the query is based on a SQL statement, the query can be saved in
the workspace. On the other hand, if the query is based on the user's
selection of elements, there is no way for the workspace to keep track of
the selection. So it can't be saved even if you give it a name.

Hi L-sters!
you will say I am splitting hair, but I came across a strange
feature in MI.
Because I need only linear object in a table for thematic purpose, I convert
point objects to zero length line objects using : Update set obj
= CreateLine(CentroidX(obj), CentroidY(obj), CentroidX(
Hi,
I'm very desperate. I put long hours to manually move labels to
place them where I like them to be. In my mapper, the working scale is the
one of the output. Since I will print a large map (36" x 44"), there is a
large difference between what I see in the mapper window (a tangle of

Hi,
I speak French, and I say, i'm impress with the automatic
translation!
Margie, you're right, "Vois" is a typo, it should be "Vous". "endroi" too is
a typo, it's should be "endroit".
so, "Vous devez choisir la ligne avant de pointer l'endroit ou separer!"
