Dear Listers,
Following RightToken.mbx (extracts right-most token of a string), I have coded
AddressSplit.mbx that splits an adress string into StreetName and HouseNum. I would
initially appreciate some feedback. Anyone interested in testing this mbx can contact
me directly by email (below).
hiya,
i'm sure this has been covered before, but probly not to my precise
requirement.
i would like to know if there is a (relatively easy) way to set up mapinfo
to pass the data of something which has been clicked on in the map window to
MS Access.
this is more than likely not going to be
Listers,
A client of ours is looking to utilise the new OS Mastermap data that has
superseded OS Landline. They have purchased some initial data but ultimately
will purchase UK coverage. MapInfo is one of their GIS packages but they
also use three others. Ideally it would be useful to store the

Hello Chris,
I've never tried queries on tables with 16 million
points, but I have done more complexe queries on
tables nearing 10 million and always come into the
same MapInfo Not Responding...but if I let it
run(usually for hours and sometimes overnight...) it
would eventually finish the

Performance is not in 100%.
Most of the times when this happens the query is running and, like Denis said, later
you will get your job done. If performance is near 0%... well, there something is
wrong!

Don't forget to make your labels 3 times smaller, as they will grow with
your size adjustment. It may help to use the text labler tool so they
remain the same size.

Hello All,
I've been receiving data from a vendor in a primitive ASCII XY line file
that looks like the fragment below:

Hello All,
I'm interested in importing proprietary Mapinfo line data into a
Consumer(cheap) GPS.
1. I'm well aware of the fact that waypoints can be loaded into almost any
GPS on the market, but I'm interested in viewing proprietary line files.
2. I'm also aware that there are a variety of
We frequently process tables with over 15 million records. We export to
.dbf format, process in a dartabase and then return to MI and perform a PACK

I have Fastedit On set for a table, yet as soon as edits are made the Save
button on the toolbar lights up. When I click on the Save button, the
FastEdited table is listed as one that needs saving. If I instead just
close the table WITHOUT saving it, I am not prompted to save it.

Hi Ken,
I have also experienced this problem. MapInfo has a limit of 13 tables open
with unsaved changes. This has something to do with a limit that they put on
the the number of open file handles.
If you commit some tables the problem will go away (until you reach the
limit again). Possibly
Hello Chris,
I'd bet my last pound that your data is from a grid or matrix - elevations
or similar? If this is the case, consider using grids to store the data. Not
only do queries fail with large record counts, but managing and visualising
so much data will be slow and difficult.

This may be old news to you guys or not, however I'll post it because it
took me so long to figure this out. Here is how you Start a windows program
from MapInfo via Mapbasic. I need it to initiate DDE conversations with
Excel therefore Excel must be running. I don't like starting excel then
This is very helpful. Thank you. I've been creating and running batch
files from MapBasic in order to open up an Access or Excel application.

Chris,
This feature has been added to MI Pro 7.0, but it does not exist in earlier
versions. As pointed out elsewhere, you can play around with different
image sizes to get something close to the effect that you want.

just an addition to this suggestion, NOT RESPONDING does not mean
