Dan,
Ok, I’ll have to get good at all that new fangled stuff sooner or later, but I
didn’t have to go through all this the last time I let folks use it. :c)
I was planning on putting it out as a package when done. I have it installed
and running right now, waiting to see if I get any
Hey Bob,
Is there any chance you can start a GitHub repo with an appropriate license
and maybe some screenshots for this? It's hard to use dropbox as a
collaboration platform...

Thanks Steve. Yes, ows_geomtype=Geometry does the trick!
You're right -- it seems with layer TYPE=polygon, the OGR output is coerced
to a Polygon rather than MultiPolygon for this case:

I’ve recently been optimzing some MapServer layer MapFiles in our system for
TIGER based centerline data to take advantage of the newer capabilities of
MapServer. The MapFile I’ve been working on recently was just over 10 years
old!! Anyway, lot’s of new stuff
Hi Peter: Adding the following metadata to the layer returns a multipolygon for
me:

Without specific direction on geometry type it may be that MapServer is
capitalizing on the layer type or something like that.

symbol. Sometimes the polygon is hatched only partly. If I increase WIDTH,
more area of polygon is hatched. I can find WIDTH where all polygon is
hatched.
Because there are always only two parts of polygon, hatched and
