You are not missing any step. Maybe the following remarks are a help for
you.
You could drop the database without deleting its files (e.g. to keep
your backup media) by unchecking "Delete database files." check box.
Though you would need to delete the data volumes that are not longer
It is also possible to perform this online with DBM GUI on MaxDB 7.6:
You can add new datavolumes to the database.
When you delete the old datavolumes the data will be distributed across
all other datavolumes.
I'll advice you to make a back-up before the action.
