Hello Stafano,

The AAM Media & Technology Program Network is interested in hosting a
discussion on the topic of LAM interoperability at the AAM annual meeting in DC
next May. As Co-Chair of the Media & Technology group, I’d be delighted to
serve as a coordinator for anyone attending the conference and interested in
arranging a date and time to meet.

Looking forward to more conversation around this topic!

All best regards,

Re: [MCN-L] Conservation module in database

2015-04-08 Thread Neal Johnson
Hi Lauren,

You might want to look at the ConservationSpace system currently under
development through a Mellon grant involving 7 conservation departments from
major museums including NYC’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

http://www.conservationspace.org/Home.html

ConSpace supports a very flexible templating system that would accommodate
whatever taxonomic structure you care to apply to your exam or treatment file
on an object or the reports you write as a result of those efforts.

Development of the second release of the system is coming along nicely and
demos well. You might consider contacting your local colleagues at the Met for
a look-see. Or e-mail me directly and I can put you in touch with one of the
project’s principle investigators at the National Gallery of Art in Washington,
DC. FULL DISCLOSURE: I was the product manager on that project for several
years.

Love your museum, BTW!!

All best,

-Neal

Two things. Firstly, this is something we're also really interested in and
would be keen to hear what you discover, as well as any more info on the TMS

 Dear Lauren,

I recently had sight of a really exciting product under development by
Gallery Systems as part of TMS which integrates Conservation processes
alongside Collections management so it might be worth making contact with
 them.

More generally, at the Collections Trust we are hoping to see more of this
kind of integration - conservation is one of the most intensive
knowledge-generating activities in a museum, but very often this in-depth
knowledge of the object can be held separately, not recorded or not made
 available to the public.

I'm really interested to hear how you get on with this, so do let us know how
 it goes via the list.

 With best regards,

 Hello,

We are looking at a proposal for the conservation module in our database. The
proposal currently separates the following into four fields: Proposed
Treatment, Proposed Materials, Treatment, and Treatment Materials. I'm
wondering what other institutions follow the practice of separating treatment
from treatment materials, and how they find it useful. Any feedback would be
 appreciated.
