The Royal Ontario Museum does use Raiser's Edge for our Membership and
Fundraising needs - but we're on the larger side as museums go.

From what I've heard, Tessitura is worth looking at for fundraising
needs,
but I'm not sure if it's oriented towards Memberships (it's more
performing arts based, but there are some museums using it).

Cheers, Deirdre.

Hi Janet,
we use Donor2, which runs as a web service. We bought it after
conducting an RFP that ended up ruling out Raiser's Edge because of
complexity and (in-house) support issues. We have a very small (2
people) Development department, and an IT department that needs another
major application to support like a hole in the head. In addition to
fund raising and development, we use it for mail list management. After
2 years of use, it has proven almost entirely trouble-free. I also like
those guys because just before Katrina hit they invited me to zip up the
database and ftp it to their server.

The Worcester Art Museum has been using Raiser's Edge for a number of
years-we began with the membership/financial areas first and are now
using it for cultivation. I would definitely recommend it.

[MCN-L] Membership and Donor Database Question (Janet M Strohl-Morgan)

2007-03-01 Thread Kate Siplon
troduc.html?nav=rss_blog
Today, Reps. Rich Boucher (D-Va.) and John Dolittle (R-Calif.)
introduced what they call the Freedom and Innovation Revitalizing
U.S.
Entrepreneurship (or FAIR USE) Act they say will make it easier for
digital media consumers to use the content they buy.

I have to confess that I was struck by the clumsiness of the name of the
bill -- until it dawned on me that FAIR USE is -- you guessed it --
its acronym. There are probably congressional staff who sit around
making up these names, and that thought alone is depressing.

Hi MCN l-serve,

I have a question for web folks out there. I would like to know who uses
flash as a standard to serve up audio and video within html or database
driven web pages. If you do, do you stream the files? And how many files
do you serve up - are there bandwidth or performance issues?

I would like to know who in our community uses flash for serving media
and what configuration/set up works for you.

I appreciate any information you can share. Thank you.

Hi Janet, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston uses Millennium by Sage
