Subject: Web Site Procedures Benchmarking

The Ohio Historical Society is gathering information on how other cultural
heritage institutions develop Web sites as we re-evaluate our own
procedures. We would appreciate your help by answering the following
questions regarding your organization's Web procedures:

 1) Does your institution have a mission and goals for its Web site? If so,
are you willing it share it? YES
 2) Who is in charge of developing content for the Web site (Webmaster, IT,
Marketing, all staff)? HISTORIANS, WRITERS, CORE TEAM
 3) How is content managed on your Web site? (content management system,
manual coding, etc.) MANUAL CODING, TRACKERS
 4) What is the process for adding new content to your Web site? (i.e., who
prioritizes content and makes the final edits)5) Is there a team of people
that oversees Web content? If so, what are there positions (titles)? TEAM -
HISTORIAN, PROJECT MGR, DESIGNER
 6) Who is involved in making decisions about re-designing large portions
(or all) of your site? MUSEUM DIRECTOR, HISTORIAN, PROJECT MGR, DESIGNER
 7) How often do you do usability testing on your main Web site? Who is
involved? A GREAT DEAL OF FORMATIVE USER TESTING. JUST BEGINNING SUMMATIVE
EVALUATION
 8) How many full time employees do you have? VERY FEW
 9) What is your annual operating budget (approximate)? INCLUDING GRANTS
1-2 million

 Thank you for your assistance!
