I've enjoyed MD for about 2-3 years now, I've had car MD changers (8 MDs in
dash), many Sony portables, MD desktops, and the Sony MDS-PC1 PC to MD deck.
MD was best for the car, for portable and to use with the PC. I love this
format BUT my friends won't buy it, no one I know can share MD music

I've enjoyed MD for over 2 years now -This is a perfect format for so many
uses. My dilemma is I want a new car and I want to have MD, preferably
transfer my 2 Sony MD changers (8 MDs) to the new car, but I don't relish
the idea of removing an expensive integrated audio system from the dash of
That little box costs $149 from Sony and I've never found it in Sony's stock
when I call. I thought I could save on buying the software but Sony has all
angles covered on this. I did buy the MDS-PC1 deck with the MD Editor and
it's by far the best way I've found to use MDs features. Any other
favorite is Mitumoto AV on the right side back corner (2 shops have the same
name!).

Went to my nearby Best Buy to look around and they had moved the MD section
from the front of the store to the back of the Stereo section. The attendant
worker told me to buy quick because Best Buy was dropping MD in January. He
said most people want CD recorders or the new MP3 players. If
I sent an inquiry for a Sharp MD and got a 'how to order' answer within a
day. However, when I asked what kind of battery it took (twice!) I never got
an answer. I gather you will get your unit ASAP, but may not get any support
if you need help.

I love the Sony Hi-8mm format and I will get a Digital8 camcorder to link to
my Sony Vaio PC soon. I have 2 Sony Hi-8mm VCRs that record DVD movies
beautifully, and a Hi-8mm camcorder. Forget VHS. I just rent DVDs, I've
stopped collecting any kind of pre-recorded formats at all, just copy to
Mine goes tick-tick-tick-tick-tick (very soft and continuous),
TICK-TICK-TICK (3-4 times, loudly), tick-tick-tick-tick-tick, etc. so I

My Sharp 501 portable MD player bit the dust and Sharp USA won't repair it
because it is not a USA model. Any idea how I get it repaired? I don't mind
shipping it to Japan or Hong Kong (where I bought it) if someone can give me
an address and FAX number,
Thanks,
