I think the people who need looking after here are those who need or want jobs. If we can figure out what's best for them, I think the rest is easy. The thing about all communities is that there will be a diversity of opinions. Let's just settle on a policy and then minimise the meta thereafter.

Would it be an option to have two mailing lists? The classic one where ads are strictly off limits, and another one purely for job ads? We can then all decide for ourselves if we are interested in job ads and no one needs to decide what is (or is not) an acceptable ad for the list. Best,
