You don't need a strong bond for this job, it is more to hold the plastic in place while the door trim gets put back on. The weaker the adhesive the better, a cheap silicone is ideal for this because it won't tear the plastic if you have to remove it again. Also removing the residue from the doo

3M trim adhesive is much easier to use, and you can get it back off again as well! My friend the MB mechanic told us to just cut the old clips, they NEVER come out intact. You might be able to get them out from inside the door, but it's much easier to destroy them and get new. Nice to know
