I was telling SWMBO (my sole partner in building our metal frame home) how
great this list is. I told her that our grey water lint problem may be
solved thanks to Allan's tip through this list.
She suggested I share some things we built into our house that some of you
may not be aware of and
I know it has been asked before but wanted to know how to check a 300SDL for
#14 head.
I am debating on buying a 300SDL with a replaced engine, they say it was a
new engine but. I would like to make sure it did not have a #14 head.
Also what are 300SDL going for these days? Is $3500
Depending upon the overall condition the price is OK. Not good but OK
AVOID the number 14 head. Look on the manifold crossing the engine - near the
area where us old timers would be looking for a carbeurator.

Good news on the 134, I suspect I'm going to go with it in my 190D in the
spring. Its not hot enough around here to worry about. I've driven the car 3
summers with no ac at all...
The blower switch on my car did the same thing a month ago. I took it apart and
flipped the broken flipper over. I
Sorry Jim, I've read this a bunch of times and still don't get it...
My car has an allen head bolt. My problem is that it was the largest allen
socket I had which is only 3/8 drive. With a 1/2 drive socket I'd have used
the impact wrench...

Numbers are right above the #2 injector hole, last numbers with be
something like 14 01 or something like that. That means its a 14 head.
As for the price, yes depending on condition etc.

The B3 band adjustment bolt was backed out about six turns or so,
finger-loose.
Took about 15 minutes to fix (including getting out the wheel ramps).

Well took the car into town to the car wash. Got it back home, decided
to tackle why it was slow to no shut off. Shut off valve leaking. Pull
air cleaner to get to it better. Its a paint to get to because for some
stupid reason they used torx bolts instead of regular bolts. The back

If I remember, you said it is on the transmission. Doesn't matter now,
though, as I found a step by step (with photographs) on another list.

Having driven the car about six times now since the fix, I think I am going
to have to adjust how I put the car in reverse. Since I bought it, it was
put in in reverse and wait a moment. Now, it is put it in reverse and be
ready, because you are going backwards NOW -- if you don't want to leave
Cool! I actually ran across those valves in my search for new
shut-off valves, since the originals in our house will not turn off
the water. I have to use the meter to turn it off if I want to replace
a bib washer.
I wondered how they could tell the difference between a shower and a
broken pipe.

Yes you are Gazza, condition of the wheels, a 10 buck set of ugly bundts
is a different beast to ones in good condition. Although I don't know
the condition of the set in question but I guess I'll find out once they
have been shipped down under, via air thanks.

If you are leaving town, press the Away button and it will shut off the
