I used GG on the wood on the ash tray, which has a plastic backing to where the wood goes, so far so good. Scratch/clean up the metal (or plastic) a bit, dampen the wood with some water, apply a bit of GG and spread it around, then clamp with whatever (I like blue tape). --R Dimitri Seretaki

I got the new switch in. I removed the faceplate over the 3 heater dials to access it. I sprayed some garage door lubricant into the cable sheath and then further blew it up the cable with some compressed air. The cable now glides freely and the switch works perfectly. Thank you all for your

As far as the dangers involved from my perspective, they are twofold: Don't forget the old fingers-in-the-fan-belt danger! Our now-sold 240D wouldn't shut down properly, but it turned out to be a vacuum supply problem. (A too-small orifice from the main line.) It also had cruise control

determined my 1 1/8 deep socket will fit on the crank, but don't have the right extensions. Fortunately, I am doing this job 3 blocks from HF, so it will be easy to get extensions in the am I have their 3/4" socket set, which has two different extensions and two drivers. (1 ratchet, one not.)
