just got approval, so y'all can be buying them soon and retrofitting
your cars to achieve 100mpg. My air-based AC transfluxinator system
that uses no moving parts or energy input will be approved soon, so
y'all can have ICE COLD AIR when you install it.

In the past, I have always paid someone to replace ball joints,
except for the VW bolt-on ones (that I really like!) I am
contemplating doing the ones on the 87 300D, then that should
complete the suspension repairs on it for a while.
Can this be done with the HF ball joint kit, or are there

Can this [124] be done with the HF ball joint kit, or are
there modifications that require a flame wrench?
I think it's pretty much the same as the 201. See:

The base HF kit works, but you need some pipe scraps too.

Bad news, almost as bad as a 6.3. Run, do not walk, away from this.
That being said, the V12s were always a nice ride, one that you would be
thinking you were cruising along at 40 mph and you look down to see you're
really going 70.

My odometer also stopped working on the W124, I think it is a broken cable.

Is the speedometer working but not the odometer? If so, the cable is fine.

Might be the gears in the speedo. I have not done it (but need to on 2

super glue on the shaft/gears. there is a web site where you can buy
new gears too if they are broken.

Jim, Thanks. That is helpful. But I see you used the flame wrench
to get the ball joint loose. I don't have a flame wrench available.
I'd sure use it if I had it! Not having the torch, I am reluctant to

So has anyone changed the 124 (or 201)ball joints without the torch
Yes like having to remove the engine to change spark plugs.

Yes I have, I took it to the local mechanic.
Other option is to buy complete assemblies off Rusty, comes with ball
joints and rubbers.

Yes, that is one option. Allows time for a brew and something on the barbie.
