knuckle) is cracked but not open or leaking (other side shows no such
cracking). Mercedes sells a boot kit ( 1165860433) for this joint.
Don't waste your money.
I bought one of the high end models, and it was worthless.
Used paint at an alarming rate, made a mess, and deafening to use, even outside.
I Freecycled it when I moved. Didn't even bother to try and get so money out of
it.

FSM says you must replace the joint; boot kit is only used if you damage a boot
during installation.
Your idea may result in a joint that fails and your front wheel falls off.

I second the roller that holds paint in the handle, kind of like a big
syringe. I think they are about $20 and work very well for large areas. In
addition to reducing trips to the paint bucket, the long handle lets you
reach almost anything without a ladder (and that really speeds things up).
