Yes, order it by VIN and order a master key by VIN, too. That way you'll
be able to get in the trunk and use one key as MB intended.

they have original tumblers, or get a new ignition cylinder which may come with

That temp swing really sounds like a gauge issue, do you have a non-contact
thermometer to verify?

That means the gauge is faulty... you can try cleaning it with some contact
cleaner if you take apart the instrument cluster. If you hit the
dashboard, you may find it will also jump around. If thats the case, 100
isn't really an issue 70 is probably more likely as the actual temp of

Sounds like battery to me, that's how all of mine have quit, although
usually when cold out.
Easy to check -- turn the headlights on and crank. If they go out,
it's likely the battery. Those starters don't usually exhibit the
high internal resistance/slow crank thing the older ones do,
I always got better grades when I took a big overload -- kept me out
of trouble. Made the Dean's List all three semesters I took 21 hours,
nearly flunked out the semester I took 12.

Like Craig said check the ground for the cluster. I had the same problem
on SWMBO's
240D when I got it.
Do a Citric Acid flush and use the MB recommended Coolant.
I have a spare cluster if you need a gauge.
Let me know what part of the door handle you need.
I also have a manual tranny shifter
Flickering temp is a bad connection. Could be the connection
to the sender, could be the sender itself, could be the gauge,
could be the instrument cluster ground. I like to blame the
harshest environment first, which would be the sender.
