Bosch? Bozio? Monarch?
These are for my '95 E300. I'm planning to have Mark Blevins rebuild them,
he did a great job on the injectors for my '87 300TD.

I'd talk to Mark first.
Has Mark worked with new nozzles made in the last five years or so?

Seems like it.
On a errand today the S420's battery light came on.
Got home and put a meter to the battery at rest - 12.5 VDC. Good.
Checked the voltage at the terminals with the engine both at idle and running
at 1500-2000 rpm. 11.84 VDC.
I'm thinking the alternator is done, at least maybe
Leave the battery in the car, FLAPS can check both battery and alternator
function in situ.
Check the EPC to make sure the voltage regulator is replaceable. On my '95
E300, it is not.

Typically a dead regulator from worn brushes results in a dead battery
without the alternator light, but it's worth a check.
Or you can take the car to most FLAPS and have them check the charging
system. Probably no current from the alternator.

Yes, I think he likes the Monarch nozzles, but most of his experience is
with the OM61X injectors.

I have great experience with Monark in 617s... I can't comment about 60X
engines.
There is a video that Ken Bergsma put on youtube of their factory in
Germany. Its enough to convince me, until Bosch puts up a similar video of
their factory in India!
Now if only Gary would sell them to me.

I'm going through this with my 190D. Mark likes Monark but doesn't have any in
stock. I'm going to order some of the Made in Germany Monarks unless I find a
deal on Made in Germany Bosch.
Dr. Fatty says Bosch quality control is all over the place.

Thx Gang - I knew that about the front suspension but didn't realize the
rear was the same. Thanks for the education!

Its the same on that ruskie VIN lookup site that was posted a couple
weeks ago. I tried the 123.123.10 number and it would not work.
Then i tried putting WDB in front of the number without periods, and
it worked.
I have not yet tried WDB11011010 yet.

If the battery has a bad cell it wouldn't give you 12.5 V, would it??

Shorted, yes. You could have a bad cell that doesn't hold up under load but
registers correct voltage. However, that would be obvious when you loaded the
battery by cranking, for example.
I'm going to go by Advance Auto tomorrow evening and have them put the test to
it.

Yeah, it doesn't appear that the regulator is replaceable on the 143 and 150
amp alternators on the later models.
As mentioned previously, I'll swing by the FLAPS tomorrow and let them diagnose
it, but I'm pretty sure the alternator is kaput. I need to crawl underneath
and check wires, too.
I must have missed something - what's the site good for?
