I think the book rate is more like 14 hours? If I were to pay someone, I'd
budget at least $2k, and I'd find an independent mechanic who works on the
"classics" because most dealers probably don't have anyone left who has
been factory trained to work on these cars. I think you'll really just
If it's been on the market for 3 weeks, his real price is a lot more than $250
and he's just taking bids, or it's some sort of scam.

Really depends on your goal. I would imagine a used dash in good shape is
far less expensive than a new dash, but you'd need to check with Classic
Center or MB Northlake to get an idea on prices for new. The risk with a
used dash is condition: Is it just about to start cracking?
If you can

So I should give this experienced mercedes mechanic the 1100 he is asking I
guess.
My guy here in LA doesn't even want the job. Easier money to be made I
guess.
What do you all think about installing a new vs used dash?

The M120s have a reputation for being tough to bleed. That's one of the reasons
why the dealer uses the vacuum fill when they flush and fill.
For $1100 it worth more than that in parts.

I would respectfully suggest that by the time the Jews were driven into the
Warsaw Getto they along with all the German citizens had been stripped of
arms.
One of the first moves Hitler made was to "for the good of the people"
confiscate all privately owned arms. Then incrementally, Jews were

I'm betting either it has air trapped in the cooling system OR it needs a
head gasket / cracked head.

The goodness of multiple guns is that you can take a new one out every day so
you can see how each caliber shoots. One of each size or multiple guns per
caliber. IT is just like having multiple versions of a Benz on hand

HF has a good sale on a sawzall type recip saw. You'll spend more
money on a selection of good blades than the saw! HF Item number
61884 or 62370 or 65570. Use coupon code 86208239
That makes it 25 bucks. Yes, It has a cord.
I recommend buying the lenox bimetal blades They start sharp,
More than one instance of damage?
Heck, the headlights alone are worth $1000 in parts.

Anyone have a suggestion on a cheap but reasonably durable buffer
from HF? I need to get the oxidation off and wax on the 240D. I've
always buffed it by hand, but i think i am ready for a Martha on this
one.
Do they have more than one model? What else do I need to order to go with it?
I bought one a few years ago for $20 and despite my best efforts to kill
it, it keeps working for reasons completely unclear. Best $20 I have
spent on a power tool..

I obviously work cheap. I did mine for <$600 for parts + indie refer guy to
replace hoses, evac and fill with R-12 I supplied. Find an indie, not a
dealer. I think dealer wanted ~$2200 in '08.
