Schedule 40 is pretty strong, if it fails it will be at a joint more
likely, which will alert you to an age issue.

times I’ve had the luxury of fixed lines for compressed air I did it with iron

I was cleaning out the SD trunk and I see this guy in the spare tire well. I

I've got this plastic filter thing that goes on the air outlet, has a
clear tube that supposedly collects any moisture or water in the air.
Plug that into the compressor then your air line into that. I got it
years ago somewhere, HF probably sell them.
