[MBZ] 240D shifter

2021-06-07 Thread John Ingram via Mercedes
Rick, That is not unreasonable, I’ll try to find a shifter first then that. He has a lot of work and likes to choose what he wants to do. JI [Have the Indy take the old shifter off, help him push the car out the door, have him install new bushings, help him push the car back in, reinstall the

The shifter is loose and the reverse lockout is gone. The mechanic doesn’t want to take the shifter apart because it will make the car unmovable unless you push it. I’d like to get a shifter and rebuild it and then switch them. The problem is now finding a shifter. John I. > On Jun 4, 2021,

I did not try to fix the 4-speed shifter, the local mbz mechanic fixed one of the rod ends and thinks it’s OK. I would like to find a 4 speed shifter to replace the worn out one in the car. Does anyone know where I can find one? 83 240D 4-speed 123 chassis. Thank you, John Ingram 83 240D

Jaime, Thank you, this is the explanation I was hoping for. I guess I’d need to get under the car to do this? I don’t have a safe way to do that, may need to take it to a shop (there is a good one near here). Can the shifter bushings be replaced from inside the car? John Ingram
