The 42RLE leaves a few things to be desired. But if you have one and have
$1700, advance adapters just came out with a replacement for the tailhousing
that is a crawl box with a 2.7ish to 1 low. Bolts in, no driveline mods
required.
Transmission aside, the liberty diesel wasn't the world's most
Wilton said that the Smoky F250/F350 trucks aren't a good image for Diesels.
That's where the Cummins Bluetec and Duramax come in, quiet, powerful and
very little smoke unless they're chipped and piped. Our '07 Ram hardly
smells like Diesel.

Our '07 4WD Dodge pickup with stock tires is useless in the snow and ice!
My mom's '06 HHR did much better on the streets during our rare Portland
snow storm last year, even those that were not plowed or packed down. It
definitely needs some aggressive tires on it.

I agree. A 180D engine could barely move the car it was designed for, and I
would think that the SLC is heavier. An OM602 or OM603, now that would be a
different story.

Solid truck as long as it was taken care of, the indirect injected ones
(like that) could have cavitation problems if the cooling system was
neglected. It would not be a turbo unless someone added it. Five speed
should be a ZF.
In 89, there was no such thing as an F-450, which begs the
BZZT, WRONG.
That truck is an F-Superduty, as indicated by the fender badge - the
superduty badge was styled slightly different than the numbers that would be
in its place.

The HO versions of the 6.2 were 155 horse, and the sticker on the 87 chevy
agrees with that. When they had EGR, they were something on the order of
20-30 hp down. Don't remember exactly.

If you do go look at it, make sure it's the 350 diesel and not either of the
4.3 liter versions, v6 or v8. Parts are basically non-existant for the v6,
and the only parts available for the small v8 are those that interchange with
the 350.

That would have been the detroit designed engine, which only has two things
in common with the duramax:
1. it is a diesel v8
2. it came in chevy trucks

Kaleb will tell you those things are better than electricity. To be honest,
I haven't seen one of those in heavy use out here, or with anything resembling
high mileage. Think by 04 the injector problems were mostly gone, but am not
positive about that.

An 07 would probably be the twin turbo 6.4, which had enough warranty problems
that Ford decided to start making its own engines again.

valley or the sierra nevadas and come on a few of the trails. I could list
off the ones a dead stock XJ with either 2.73:1 or 3.07:1 diffs (can't
remember) and a five speed made without issue that his volvo wagon that

28MPG is the best I've gotten with a '78 300CD. This was during an 1100
mile trip from Southern California to Hillsboro, Oregon with only 1 cold
start (doable with 2 drivers). We never stayed below 60 other than mountain
passes.

If EVERYTHING works in that SD, it's a screaming deal! My '83 is going up
for sale by week's end. It doesn't have working AC, but the windows and
sunroof do work. I'm hoping that I can get somewhere near $1500 for it, but
$1200 or $1300 would probably be more realistic.
