Gump was born with black interior, and after many cans of Duplic-color
desert sand she has a ... sand interior. Had to manufacture carpets to
match. Exterior is that dark green that looks black to the uninitiated.
I am not sure I can survive getting a parts car here. Happy wife and
all. I
You are better off swinging a wrench and making it run.
That's my intention. The body is an 8 (it would be a 10 if the trunk didn't
have major rust in it). It's home and in the driveway now where it'll get
plenty of wrench swinging coming its way. I want to tackle the valves but I
don't

I want to tackle the valves but I
don't have the proper wrenches to swing that one.
You'll need them. I made mine using the acetylene torch to
bend suitable pawnshop cheapies. I had a couple of failures
before I got two that worked well. With the dogleg bend in
it you can't start with too
Amen, but 35 years in my case. When i was doing it often, I had a 1/2 x
9/16 antique S wrench that I used for the lock nut. It worked very
well. Lately I am just using ordinary combination wrenches. I never used
a big wrench to keep the valve from turning. I just watch it so I know if

Thanks, John, for the valve adjustment info! Next week, I'm going to make
sure that all of the valves are adjusted properly before trying to tow start
it. That way, I have a baseline and I wouldn't be wasting any time. I'll
know that it's either a runner or a parts donor/curb queen in just a

Hello dieselers.
I found a 1974 240D for $100 with a new battery. It supposedly needs some
injector work, but maybe only a propper priming or injector line bleed or
perhaps fresh diesel is all that's needed. I figure it's worth a try.

Hey! I'm taking that rusted out 240D and turning her into a trailered

Jim,
I am very jealous of guys (and gals) who have access to pick pull on Benz
parts. Nothing here. Damn.

Kevin,
did you buy it or are you just tormenting us by not having a link so we
can snag it?

A beauty queen, it's not, but a dependable driver, it could b with some
work. It's got a little rust in the trunk floor due to the usual water
intrusion, but that's it for body rust. Hopefully, I can get the existing
engine to
OK, Damn you
$120, and that is my final offer

What color interior does Gump have? This one has a maroonish brown body
with brown interior, and it has some quite decent seats, a bit dirty, but no
rips. Are you seriously looking for a good parts donor for Gump? If so,
this one has a lot to offer. I was planning on wrestling with the
