Yep
I couldn't get the lower bolt out of the wheel carrier with a 4# hammer --
guess I could leave it on the lower control arm and take the whole thing to
them to press out ---

I'm thinking of trying to fabricate the press in/out tool as shown in
35-114 instead of removing the wheel carrier.

I'll keep that in mind. I'm going to get a quote from a frame/alignment shop
next week - might save myself the hassle if the price isn't too high.

Take off the wheel carrier and take it to the alignment shop, along
with the new bushings. Not too much money. When I did mine, I
think it was $35. (after you recover from sicker shock at that the
shop wants to RR and align.)

The left rear bushing (supporting link, pdf 35-114) on the lower control arm
(spring link) of the '92 300D is squeeking loudly wiht any motoin at all. I
thought it was going to be one of the other four links, but it's clearly the

Link must come off, as the wheel carrier has to come off. I don't
remember if the bushing is in the link or in the carrier, but it must
be pressed in and out, it's not a slip fit.
Another job I will get to know in greater detail soon, as the rear
suspension needs a complete overhaul on
Normally, yes, You can unbolt the bottom of the shock, then unbolt
the outer end of the LCA, with the LCA supported by a floor jack.
Lower the jack and catch the spring when it comes loose. No spring
compressor needed for the back of any postwar MB up to W210 at least.
If the outer bolt is
