Yep I couldn't get the lower bolt out of the wheel carrier with a 4# hammer -- guess I could leave it on the lower control arm and take the whole thing to them to press out --- On Tue, Nov 9, 2010 at 7:35 PM, Dieselhead 126die...@gmail.com wrote: Take off the wheel carrier and take it to

I'll keep that in mind. I'm going to get a quote from a frame/alignment shop next week - might save myself the hassle if the price isn't too high. On Tue, Nov 9, 2010 at 2:26 PM, Dillon, Meade M CIV SPAWARSYSCEN-ATLANTIC, 53310 meade.m.dil...@navy.mil wrote: OK Don, I'll be doing the same job

Take off the wheel carrier and take it to the alignment shop, along with the new bushings. Not too much money. When I did mine, I think it was $35. (after you recover from sicker shock at that the shop wants to RR and align.) I'll keep that in mind. I'm going to get a quote from a

The left rear bushing (supporting link, pdf 35-114) on the lower control arm (spring link) of the '92 300D is squeeking loudly wiht any motoin at all. I thought it was going to be one of the other four links, but it's clearly the bottom one that the spring sits on. To RR this bushing, and the

Link must come off, as the wheel carrier has to come off. I don't remember if the bushing is in the link or in the carrier, but it must be pressed in and out, it's not a slip fit. Another job I will get to know in greater detail soon, as the rear suspension needs a complete overhaul on

Normally, yes, You can unbolt the bottom of the shock, then unbolt the outer end of the LCA, with the LCA supported by a floor jack. Lower the jack and catch the spring when it comes loose. No spring compressor needed for the back of any postwar MB up to W210 at least. If the outer bolt is
