I had part interest in a Model T in the late 1940s. 3 or 4 of us went in
together and bought it for $25. The cloth top was long gone and the seats
were bad, but it would do an honest 25 mph wide open. The engine was worn
and pumped a lot of vapor out that came up in the front seat area if
Nothing here Olds specific, but probably something that will adapt.
I bracketed the links so maybe they work now, without copy and paste.

One more try.

An aimable breather cap? Breather caps worked in conjunction
with a road draft tube, to keep the nasty eye-watering oily
burny smells away from the cabin air intakes. Between the two
they ventilated the crankcase. I suppose the hose thing was
for tired engines that really pumped out the
Okay, for clarification of the item I am looking for. Here is one for sale on
Ebay. Anyone seen this type of object in an auto parts store? Or wrecking yard/
Or basement? Not even sure this would fit my oil filler tube.
I'm looking for an item that was commonly available for older American cars. If
fits atop the oil filler tube (see attached picture) and directs blowby fumes
coming out of the filler tube to someplace below the top of the engine. It has
a flexible tube attached so you can bend it and direct it
Didn't see an attachment on my copy

I honestly cannot say I have ever heard of or seen what you describe but
about the only place I can think of that might have such a thing is JC
Whitney.
Another alternative might be to search something like the Hemmings books.

Sounds like maybe a crankcase ventillation system. Some had oil filler caps
with hoses that connected to the carbs air filter housing. The other end of
the system went to a PCV . This would be a negative pressure type system
back in the 60`s or late 50`s on American iron.. Hot Rod shops
Frod had them up through at least 82 or 83 on the 3800 V6 and 5.0 V8

I think you are correct. I rebuilt a 302 in a 1980 Ltd a number of years
back and I think it had what he is referring to. I had not really
thought of that. I thought he was referring to some aftermarket item. I
guess maybe he is - an effort to avoid the original setup by having it
act like a
The 82 Ltd (the small one) with a 3800 that I worked on had it go into the side
of the air cleaner into a extra little filter (I think they actually called it
a PCV filter)
I suspect that the net effect is not dissimilar to the breather tube in our
benzes going into the air intake...
