I have not read all of the posts in regard to this subject so forgive me if I'm
way off the topic here.
Don't know what is available in the US but I note that there are ads in the
paper here this morning for new Grand
Cherokees with an MB diesel engine. About $45K if my memory is correct.
If you find a pair, I would really like one too. SWMBA is pushing
for oldest boy to take drivers ed this summer, which means Gump is
going to be his to drive and I will need a ride.

Other than the reliablity issue which is clearly a disaster you're
already getting higher than the rated mileage on your Jeep and so should
get higher with the diesel I'd think.

A fellow I work with has a '96 or so Cherokee with the 6 cylinder and
he loves it. He says he's had the dealer begging him to trade it
when he brings it in for service, because they are so desireable.
