If you're referring to the input seals
(http://www.dieselgiant.com/mercedesintakeseal_ringreplac.htm ), these were
recently replaced.
Also, the smoke is slightly bluish-white and is only excessive upon cold
startup and disappears after 5-10 min. warmup. No oil
You're not using coolant, or turning it black with soot, are you?
You might want to pull the injectors and have them tested.
Or, with the engine idling as smooth as you can get it, put on some gloves, pick
up a couple of wrenches, and loosen the injector lines at the injectors one at a
time.
