I actually ordered that pin wrench. After a false start when I found that the rebuild kit I ordered was missing a seal, and that there was in fact a separate kit for the diaphagms, and that the gasket for the pump itself was also a separate item, today I did the vacuum pump rebuild. I found that

I got the vacuum pump kit today, for the double-diaphragm style vacuum pump on my 300SD. Chassis job 43-625 calls for a hinged pin spanner which is used to counterhold the diaphragm disc while tightening the center bolt. Anyone know if this is strictly necessary? I could probably improvise
