If you already have a lot of bugs in the tank, the Biobor can kill them and
then the dead ones clog the filter. The good news is that it won't happen
again if you continue the biocide.

That's what I suspected happened. The screen was covered with small
strips
and sheets of algae. Whether I got it all out by blasting with a
pressure
If you got it mostly out I bet it will break up on treatment. When I had
the infection it would clog
First thing I did after the motor swap in my truck was throw a water
seperator in. It's a cheap preventative measure, and it adds some peace of
mind and incidentaly a fuel shutoff valve as well. It's a small racor that I
was given new with spare bowl and filter, so was free to me.

so. certainly none for the US market after 1960 or so had a separate
device called a water separator. However EVERY MB diesel has a well
designed filter that pulls fuel off the TOP effectively trapping up
to 8 oz or so
