M103 and M104 head gaskets start leaking oil out of the passenger side rear corner at about 100k miles. IIRC, some (most?, all?) M103 engines came with brass, not bronze valve guides. If he just changed the head gasket without having the head rebuilt, that's quite an oversight. It's not worth

I find my 190D quite roomy, plenty of headroom and I can put the seat back so far I can't get the clutch all the way down. That said I think you may find the left door pillar objectionable, maybe not, you might be back far enough that you'll be behind it. I think 33mpg is a pipe dream but

Mine is a '93 and is a 2.3. Never make above 28mpg on premium gas. Unless I really had a good tail wind blowing or my car is hook up to the semi and gets good mileage. :-) Occasionally, I do get around 24 to 26. City is 18 to 20. One thing you better check is the wiring harness. Mine is

Yes there was, it's actually 1998cc but because they sold a 200 (123/4 with the same motor as the 201) they named it the 190E to avoid confusion. Later MB introduced a 180E here in Oz to slide under the luxury tax, not sure what size motor is in that one but it was a real peasant model but sold
