I think we are talking about two different cars. The
one I bid on was located at Daytona Beach, FL.

Hi All.
IIRC, the 190D was imported for a verrry short time. Marshall could
correct me. But, in a drag race a 240D wins against the 190D.
And I'm not home so I don't have my Nitske book to check that out.
For anyone driving a congested city commute w/high speed
merging..
Disregarding the gearing possibilities-- the 190D should be faster --
123 chassis 240D - 3250 Lb and 67 HP
201 chasis 190D - 2700 LB and 72 HP
240D - 48.5 Lb/HP
190D - 37.5 Lb/HP
The 190D was imported from '84 thru '86 best that I can tell.

PTWRONG.
This is the 123 HP 5 cylinder TURBO diesel (same engine found in the
124). It'll blow other MB diesels into the weeds.
Very rare car.

Jeepers folks, that's a gen-yoo-wine rare find, and a killer price as
well! Hope someone near there nabs it up, and quick. I wouldn't
think twice about picking that thing up, and right now--seriously.

Bt!!! Wrong. The 190D, especially the turbo, is a hot little car.
Unfortunately, the one advertise on the Nashville Craig's list is not a
turbo, in spite of the ad. Actually the non-turbo model is not that
bad, acceleration wise. No comparison with a 240D. If I drove either of
the 190Ds
No, the 190D 2.2 was imported 1984 and 1985. The 2.5 was imported 1986
through 1989. The turbo model was imported only in 1987.

Ron, it has the slotted right front fender, which makes it a 2.5
turbo, assuming it wasn't swapped after a crash--correct?

Yup, you're right. I was looking at the lack of a badge on the trunk.
Trunk must have been replaced/repaired/repainted.

There were 3 190Ds brought officially to the US.
There was the 201.122 190D 2.2 brought to the US in '84-'85. 72 HP, 0-62
mph ~19 sec (that's 5+ sec faster than a 240D) highway mpg ~36-37 (more

Yes, I called the guy as soon as the note from Rick appeared on the

Friday, he already had a deposit on the car. The buyer was supposed to
show up 8 am Saturday morning with the cash. I asked the buyer to let
