I have usually seen 350 or so on the high side. After watching it a little futher, it did drop down to about that range finally. On the same project, I noticed the compressor was running ALL the time, would not turn off even if you put in ec mode, would not turn off even if you pulled the

Did you clean out all the crud stuck between the condenser and radiator? My brother's SDL was about half covered with dead bugs. No AC (bad compressor, fixed this summer), but it ran too warm on long grades in West Virginia a couple years ago. Much cooler on that trip this time. A

Yup. It has too much resistance, telling the PBCU that the evaporator is too cold, so it switches off the compressor. Leaving it jumpered (so that the PBCU thinks it's very hot) will freeze the evaporator up. Peter ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new

yea, I figured that out!! I will order a new one or pull one off another car I guess. Think im going to drive it to work tomorrow so it wont be running that long with it jumpered. I suppose its also possible the wiring has resistance in it because the rats did chew completely thru that wire

Converted to 134 and it seems done the proper way it cools just fine. At best it's only capable of about 80% of the cooling of an R12 system, unless you changed out parts like the condensor and/or evaporator. That may be good enough for where you live. My only concern is the high side
