At the beginning of 2021, there were 1 681 hydropower plants in Norway,
with a combined installed capasity of 33 055 MW. In a normal year, the
Norwegian hydropower plants produce 136.4 TWh, which is 90 % of Norways
total
Yup.

Apparently Norway's electricity is about $0.12/KWH all in, including supplier
charges. We're paying $0.16/KWH just for the electricity here in north central
MA. A year ago we were locked in at $0.10KWH...
If I bought from National Grid it'd be $0.24/KWH just for the electricity.

That’s Iceland. Norway has oil and hydro, that was one question I had as what
was powering the cars. Cold climate too. Probably no nukes.

Pretty much forever Texas has been on its own grid with I think one
interconnect in North Texas to some other grid. There was a huge amount of
installed wind generation in West Texas which was fine until one very frigid
New Year’s Day in like 09 or 10 the wind just died. No wind power which was
Doesn't Norway have a super abundant supply of geothermal energy producing
nearly free electricity? Quite a different situation here.

And has abundant cheap hydro electricity.

It's easier for Norway, they can finance all their schemes by selling oil to
the rest of the world while at the same time congratualting themselves for
being carbon neutral.

Probably being led by the same boneheads that had them disconnect from the
national grid. That worked out well for them.

Interesting. Meanwhile, Texas is doing all it can to unwind the development
of solar and wind power in order to facilitate natural gas development.
Texas is currently the leading producer of renewable energy in the country.
Go figure.
