thread a few weeks ago about the 240D Rusty was selling for a ...
another person. Totally perfect, needs nothing, sweet chariot=$4000.
Much discussion about market value of a 240D ensues. Most people feel
between $500 and $999. Others think $50, because who wants a rusted
out 240, too slow

if anything, swine underestimates the value. a solidly running 240D is
worth $1500.
in some areas, W123 Mercedes have virtually disappeared. you will not find
many nice 240Ds anywhere.

I hear diesel MBs are all the rage in Costa Rica right now due to gas
prices that are $4.00/gallon. Old 240s and 300s and are being
shipped down there.

I sold my 1974 240D 4-speed for $1250 a year ago. You should be able
to get at LEAST that for your 123 240D.

1500 will get you a jalopy 240d that looks fair, meaning don't expect too
much. A good example in nice condition can pull in 3k.
My 240d 3.0 is not for sale. I have way too much in it, especially now that
is has a low mile euro 3.0 in it. I plan to use this vehicle as a test bed
for WVO and bio diesel mods. I plan on configuring custom injectors and
with the help of the fellow who does IPs for me we will play with pump

If your 240 was a nice example, you sold it for too little.
If it was the pea-green one with the dull paint, it was about
as good as I expect my 300SD to be by the time my investment
hits $1200.
Indeed, it was the pea-green with dull paint and rust and a
non-synchronized tranny.

Gary,
Assuming it runs, the value ranges $900.00 - $6000.00, unless Kaleb is
buying it, in which case they are all worth $500.00
Not long ago, Rusty sold an excellent daily driver for somewhere around
$4500.00 and I believe the buyer got a great deal.
The value varies because everything depends
