I used a commercial tire bead lube so that wasn't the issue. I just couldn't get the tire to seat well enough or to get enough air into the tire to help it seat. I had removed the valve stem and I had a decent air tool ( actual name escapes me) for inflating the tire but just couldn't get it

Liquid soap on the tire bead and rim seating area gives a huge advantage to getting tires mounted and seated into the rim... a little "lube" lets it slide into position. Dish soap works. On Wed, Jun 1, 2022 at 1:56 PM Randy Bennell via Mercedes < mercedes@okiebenz.com> wrote: > A bead blaster

A bead blaster works well for seating lawn tractor tires. I tried a ratchet strap and could not get the tires to seal against the rim. The blaster did it in one shot. Or, if you are brave, you spray brake cleaner in and then hit it with a match and explode it onto the rim. A Harbor Freight

Find a tractor shop near by that fills tractor tires and other hard service tires with foam. Since you have written off the rims anyway, and it is not a high speed vehicle, and the tires still have tread, fill them all with foam and "tractor on"... Once you foam a tire, the rim is ruined because

Once the sidewall integrity is gone you need a new tire. Else tube it and go on. At least with a lawn mower you aren't risking your life due to a sudden catastrophic tire failure, but that's what I'd do. -- Jim ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list

I have used a ratchet tie-down strap around a new tire to get it to inflate. Still a PITA. If it didn't have the crack I'd say you could try Slime, I've had some success with that on small tractor tires, but that won't fix a sidewall crack. On Tue, May 31, 2022, at 8:59 PM, Kaleb Striplin

I do have a rim clamp tire machine which I would think would make it easier if it goes down that small.  The problem is I think that rear tire probably needs to be replaced but those are around $130 each. On 5/31/2022 7:05 PM, Peter Frederick via Mercedes wrote: typically they are a pain to

typically they are a pain to get on the rim, if it’s not a huge amount more a tire and wheel assembly is a whole lot less work. Definitely get a tub if you get a new tire though. Peter > On May 31, 2022, at 6:15 PM, Kaleb Striplin via Mercedes > wrote: > > When I got the lawn tractor out
