I think he later said that the parts were about double what he originally

Thought about that. There is a nice 560SEL at PNP right now...need to take a
good look at it with Buddy Charlie to see what I'd be getting into. Will keep
y'all posted.

Are you looking for anything in particular?
FYI, there are about 3-4 300SDs in three local PNPs...and a 380SEL

Find out what the ratio is. Worst case, swap subframe/diff/control arms/hubs/
speedometer and live with the new final drive ratio.

I want an LSD in the 123. There has been much speculation that its
doable. I have also read that the cost of rebuilding the LSD runs well
above $1g depending on whats needed.

when you say physically larger differential you are talking about the whole
mechanism..i.e. a bigger pumpkin, so to speak? That would make sense as I think
I saw cooling fins on the 560 differential and I am pretty sure that I do not
have those on my 300SD differential.

Mitch is correct. the 420 and 560 V8s used a physically larger
differential. The diesels, 6s, and the 380 small V8 used the small
differential.
Different flange sizes are just one of the problems. So you must restrict
your
posi search to 380 or smaller engined 126 cars..
