My '83 300D acted like it had a warped rotor when I stopped. I checked all
the rotors with a dial indicator and they were all within .001. Found that
the left rear axle boot was leaking pretty bad.
Could a dry, damaged half axle cause that sort of thing; sort of like a

Does the axle making clacking noises? That would be the balls in a bad
CV joint. I suppose if the CV joint was bad, it could kinda throw the
wheel out of track a bit as it turned, feeling like a vibration from a
warped rotor.

See if you can smell brake fluid around the right wheels which would
indicate a leaking cylinder or hose that got brake fluid on the pad/disc.
