Re: [MBZ] dissimilar metal corrosion
I've had a similar problem; a pipe inside a pipe. After trying all the solvents; WD-40, 50-50 acetone and light oil, Aero kroil, Blaster, Ruster Eater from Autozone, etc.; I bought an Icee from a convenience store, put a cork in one end of the inside tube, filled the inside tube up with Icee, and heated the outer tube all around with a hair dryer set on high while hitting the open end of the inside tube with a heavy plastic mallet (rubber mallet didn't work). Had to refill the inside tube with cold Icee a couple of times since it melted pretty fast. I was prepared to heat the outside tube with a propane torch if necessary but after about 20 minutes of heating the outside tube and hitting the inside tube with the plastic mallet, it finally moved a little and eventually came out. Ammonia diazo processing is good source - if that process has any suppliers these days. That is the old 'blueprint' developer wherein ammonia vapor turns the compound to blue after exposure. I checked the relay out cleaned contact and found that there was a disconnect between the relay contact and the exit pin 87 of the relay. I fixed that with a jumper wire between the conact and the pin. I reinstalled the relay but found that the relay is not closing, not sure why yet so I am closing the contact with a jumper wire. You could apply 12v across the relay coil and see if it works out of the circuit. Also measure to verify that the relay coil is getting 12v when the key is in the start position. [MBZ] delivery valve seals
I have several cars I need to do delivery valve seals on. Starting with a 84 190D. I have that one tore all the way down to removing the pump elements and will finish that tomorrow. All I have on hand right now is the rubber o rings. Is there anything else I need while I am at it. I seem to recall some talk about replacing the copper washers also but I dont have them so I hope I can just reuse them. I have ordered the o rings from rusty several times but never did get around to the job till now, and I could not find the last ones I ordered but I did find a set of 5, when I know the last couple of times I ordered were sets of 6 for 603's. I hope these are not for a 617 or soment, I cant imagine I would have ordered a set of 5 for one of those so I am thinking they are for a 602. -- -- OK Don 2001 ML320 1992 300D 2.5T 1990 300D 2.5T 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
Re: [MBZ] delivery valve seals
You should get the copper seals, as the old ones usually don't re- seal all that well. Better to wait and get new seals than do the job twice. Re: [MBZ] delivery valve seals
I change the DV springs, the copper washers and the orings. I put the socket, the orings springs, copper washers, and the plastic clips for the injection lines all in one box, because when I need one, I need them all. Kinda like keeping the mityVac, vacuum Ts, plugs, line, etc all together in a box. seems like I did order the copper seals once too, I need to find all that stuff.
