the rear brake pads so I went to replace the pads. Caliper pistons were
pretty far out so used a c clamp to retract them so the new pads would fit.
Seemed like it took way too much pressure with the clamp to retract the

Going through my old boxes, I came across this device that appears to be a
diminutive automotive fire extinguisher with mounting bracket, possibly a
rechargeable one. One of you older types recognize this? It looks too small to
be of value in a real fire. When I turn the knob, I hear hissing.
Speaking of OM603 heads, when pulling the old head off the engine, how much
of the exhaust/turbo plumbing needs to be undone? I was looking at that
assembly last night, spraying penetrating oil at whatever I could see. I
would like to avoid removing the turbo and its oil seals if possible.
I successfully used part number 210 720 00 42 to repair the right rear
window regulator yesterday. The new part has the critical sliding portion;
the rest can be thrown away. I re-used the metal plate and white window
slide (goes in channel at bottom of window glass). Also used a 6mmx1.0 bolt
We left the exhaust/turbo attached to the head when we pulled it, removed it
on the bench, re-assembled before mountung the head on the block. Seemed the
easiest way to me. Just watch the oil supply line as you lift the assembly -
easy to get it caught and bend it.

will not close. Using the emergency closer it the trunk it will close. If
I hit the sunroof switch with an assistant the makes noise like it is
running, moves the emergency closure about a half turn then stops.

Took a look at the situation, most of the fuel lines look new except the stubby
one from the see-through (primary?) filter to the hand
While working on the fuel leak I spent some time looking at the AC, you might
remember the mystery wire conundrum. I wire brushed it and tried grounding as
somebody had suggested but that seemed to make no difference.
With the AC control on the compressor never does anything, I tried jumping

Can you see the two small holes where you insert the 2mm pins? They are at the
edge of the silver metal portion of the face of the lock. If you can see the
holes, you're ready to remove the cylinder lock, assuming you've got the trim
piece off and the key turned to position one. My

I did mike the piston. It was 54.7mmantwhich way I measured it so if it
