I found a couple of ways to do this, and there are probably more:
First you need a dongle, either Bluetooth or WiFi. This is usually determined
by the device you're going to run the software on. I use an iPad, so I went
WiFi. These can be found in all sorts of configurations on places like

and into a folder on your computer. Using a flavor of Windows, I use
Windows Explorer to move the files.

On some phones you get an option when you hook up USB of charge only vs.
connect as external drive. Once you can see the storage of the phone you
can transfer files.
OR you can do a file transfer via Bluetooth.
