Good to know. I never asked/tried it.
I love my tinted windows. They decrease the heat load on the cabin
significantly. While I go for the visible tint, my tint guy has all different
shades of it, some that’s almost clear and imperceptible for those who don’t
want to darkening of the glass.

You can probably find it on Amazon, too. Great stuff, I wouldn’t use anything
else. Not cheap, but unless you’re really sloppy, a can will last a long time.

I'd try welding a nut to it first.
How did you manage to screw up the threads for that bolt in the first
place? (or did ya buy it that way?) That is one problem I've never
had. (yet)
Finally had time to dig into the service manual, sections 15-505 and 15-510
lay it out pretty clearly. I think the relay is bad, just need to get at
it and start measuring voltage at the various pins.
I wonder how the cost of a new relay will compare to the cost of upgrading
to the pencil style
I pulled my 98 e300 in the shop yesterday for
what was supposed to be a simple belt shock
replacment. I knew the hole was stripped out so
I already had the proper size helicoil on hand.

50A is correct, according to the service manual. We installed an 80A
because (1) that's all I have and (2) that's what was there. Now we know
better...
Perhaps the push-button modification will be where we end up, I'll offer
that as a possibility.

harness is shot, but there’s no way to tell without twisting it up and seeing
if you go into limp-home mode. Otherwise it’s something best left alone.

The pencil plug upgrade kit still uses the existing under dash glow
timer/relay, at least it did when I did my TD some years back. Maybe there
is something new now? Another route would be to convert to the inside
ender-mounted relay used on the later models; should be available cheap
used.

It's likely a plug has gone bad. In the last few cars I changed series GPs
in, one always went bad in a short period of time. Bosch seems to have a
QC issue in India. I even bought them from MB direct.

The resistance is so low that a milliohm meter is the only
effectively measure the resistance. But 0.5 ohm means none
of them are open. :)
