Re: [MBZ] Hows the rebuilding Dan?
Well, considering that I don’t work for the School District that’s not really an issue. I may have mentioned how they went completely down, mainframe and all, and have no DR or offsite resources. My former boss did call me and ask a few things about the systems I used to manage in case he had to bring them back up himself (my replacement is hardy functional, but that’s a whole ‘nother story.) Thank you. Yes, we were very fortunate. I think I've seen that car and talked to the owner, young guy. He loved it, but the engine had an oil leak so he was thinking of rebuilding it. I explained that the oil leak could be fixed without a complete rebuild, especially on such a low miles car, but I'm not sure he believed me. I recommended he have Hans at German Auto give him an estimate for fixing the leak, haven't seen him again since that exchange. He didn't have a clue about adjusting the valves either, but knew it needed to be done. -- Max Dillon Charleston SC '87 300TD '95 E300 On September 24, 2017 11:49:22 AM EDT, Rich Thomas via Mercedeswrote: >https://charleston.craigslist.org/cto/d/mercedes-benz-300d-1978/6311768112.html > > >--R > > >___ >http://www.okiebenz.com > >To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ > >To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: >http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

The evaporator looks awful, covered with slime. This is probably the heart of the problem. This car does a terrible job at filtering the fresh air, to much dirt and leaves get in. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Re: [MBZ] Freaking autozone alternators
Sadly I think even the genuine Bosch rebuilds are no good. I put a starter in my 250S when I rebuilt everything. It lasted a few weeks before making all kinds of noises, and ended up with lots of grinding sounds. Luckily I kept the original, which really had nothing wrong. I cleaned it up, painted it, and its been working great since. For a while now I won't return cores for rebuilt units (calipers, alternators, starters, electronics). It seems they come in handy, or are worth taking the time to rebuild on your own.
