I think they all had a starter override. 
My 1975 Honda had a starter switch under the hood, you stuck a coin in it to 
turn it. The seat belt switch had already been bypassed before I owned the car, 
I only used the underhood switch to crank it over for valve adjustments and 
compression testing, for which it was very handy.

Sigh.

Rather than just randomly throw stuff at it, try reading the service manual on 
the system and understand why it’s doing what it’s doing:

The later model W123s like yours use a “warning module” that incorporates 
inputs from the braking system. seat belt switch (driver’s seat only), ignition 
key switch and driver’s door “pin” switch.

Look on page 118 of the ETM to see the circuit:

Pretty simple.  Trace it out and isolate components.

AOMIE Backupper to clone the disk because it didn't hesitate at the two
different sized drives. It was fast, painless, free, and "just worked".

My problem with most of the spiral ones is that they're too steeply tapered and 
only grab on the edge of the hole. They also seem more inclined to expand/jam 
the already stuck fastener. 
But it would be nice to have a set of left hand drills like that, even if they 
are made in Brazil.

It does look like a decent restore job.   When I judged concours at 
Gemetleicheit in the 80s, almost all the restores lost lots points for 
an ugly underside.   Wrong mufflers, exhaust clamps, unrestored, dirty, 
and lots of overspray on the dirt.  I'd have taken off even more points 
if the judging criteria had allowed me to do so.   It was awful to see  
"restored" 300SLs and other great cars with all those sins committed.

SWMBO has been upgraded to a 2008 macbook, my old i5 one.   I use a t7 
2008 one I bought cheep on fleabay.  I got the mb repaired, and bought a 
SSD for it, so I have $300-350 in it.  I hope it lasts a Log 
time.   The battery in the i5 one expanded enough to warp the case last 
summer, and it got a new cooling fan under warranty.   Unless you do 
video editing or 3dCad, a pentium will do.   I still have a flock of 
pentiums and the old K6-300 server I built in 1998 running Server 2003.


I have a HP 2012 server I need to get wiped and sell it.

I do 98% of my computing, including this message, on a cheap HP (Pentium P6100) 
I bought in 2011.
Some time around 2015 I lost a vertical line in the display, make that 2 lines 
now. Problem is in the ribbon cable in the hinge area, at first I could fix it 
by changing the tilt.
