[MBZ] ***SPAM*** RE: OT Wimps
Most New York City dwellers do not have a garage, basement, or workshop. I grew up in Brooklyn, and my dad was a machinist. I learned from him, my Grandpa, and my uncle. Grandpa owned a six-family house, Dad had a workshop in Grandpa's cellar. I blunder around but manage some things. I've taught my millennial kids a bit, and bought them some basic tools. On topic: Both of my sons have done some Benz wrenching on a 240D, and one will be doing DIY maintenance on a GLK. And my daughter wrenched some hard-to-reach glow plugs into my diesel Suburban 'cuz she was petite enough to climb right into the engine compartment! Any fool can tow 35k pounds. It takes a bigger truck than that to get it stopped when someone cuts you off though. There is no federal standard so they can say what they want on ratings and ads. Always give those 5th wheel pickup truck car hauler guys a wide berth. Their brakes are piddly compared to a single axle semi tractor. Semis are allowed to run 34k on a set of tandems, so with at least 1000lb is hitch weight, you can do it with 8 semi trailer tires. If you put 20% on a fifth wheel, 8 semi tires will do it easily. Which brings us to the next question, how do you put 15-25% of 35k on a pickup hitch? Is this pickup the four ton model? Re: [MBZ] New M139 engine
They claim it's not a downgrade because it makes as much power as the old one at 2000. But can you imagine the area under the curve if this one made 400ft-lb from 2000 to 5500? I guess it doesn't really matter. If you have an automatic transmission, you aren't allowed to go full throttle at 2000rpm, it'll kickdown instead. The part I like is that it has direct injection, but also has port injectors for when the direct injectors really shouldn't be asked to push that much fuel. This should help clean the intake ports and valves, which become a sooty mess from EGR in DI engines. The whole point of DI is it's timed for after the exhaust valve closes so none can blow out the exhaust, and the issues with DI are some of the raw fuel hits the cylinder wall and ends up in the sump and the fuel detergents can't clean the EGR soot off the back of the intake valves because the fuel never goes through them. > On June 6, 2019 at 11:26 PM Curley McLain via Mercedes > wrote: > > > I agree.
